Final Stats
Ogden, UT --- Weber State's Coric Riggs, held down for most of the game, hit a layup with 59.7 seconds left to give the Wildcats the lead for good, and Tim Henry suffered a crushing turnover with ISU looking to tie with 13.0 left, and ISU went down to a 66-61 defeat in Ogden. The loss drops Idaho State to 9-10 overall and 1-6 in the Big Sky, while Weber State snaps a seven-game losing streak and goes to 7-13, 1-6.
Tied at 57 all, the Bengals looked to get a gift when Dan Henry passed the ball right to Akbar Abdul-Ahad, but ISU couldn't score, missing two close in shots, leading to Riggs' eventual layup for the lead. Kasey Winters had a good look with 37.5 to tie, but the shot didn't go. WSU hit just one of the ensueing free throws, and Slim Millien hit a shot with 26.7 left. After Riggs added two free throws for a 62-59 lead, ISU was looking to tie when Henry's pass to David Schroeder was deflected by Chauncey Shelton and into his brother Dan's arms.
The finish ruined another solid night by David Schroeder, who tied his career-high with six three-pointers for the second consecutive game. Henry was the only other Bengal in double-figures. Logan Kinghorn played solid with eight points, nine rebounds, and a career-best five assists.
Nedim Pajevic lead Weber State with 17 points, Clint Burris had 14, Riggs had 13, and Terrell Stovall added 10.
Idaho State shot .453 for the game, but suffered with 15 turnovers. WSU shot just .373, but outshot ISU from the line, hitting 20 of 27 free throws with the Bengals were just 4 of 9.
The league finished the first half of play on Saturday night, and the Bengals are tied for the sixth and final playoff spot with Portland State and Weber State at 1-6, after Montana State used a late comeback to nip the Vikings 69-68.
The Bengals led 26-22 at the break, but suffered 10 turnovers, negating a .476 shooting percentage in the opening half.
NOTES: Slim Millien wasn't in double-figures for the second straight game, scoring just nine points, but added three blocks ... ISU hit nine three-pointers ... the Bengals were outrebounded 37-32.
