Box Score

Pocatello, ID--Paced by Andrea Lightfoot's 23 points, Idaho State shot a blistering 62 percent from the field and connected on a season-high 14 three-point field goals to defeat Montana Tech 102-59 Saturday afternoon at Reed Gym

With the win, Idaho State improves to 2-7 overall on the season. Montana Tech stays idle at 8-2 because the game counts as an exhibition for the NAIA school.

After playing to a 6-6 tie just three minutes into the game, Idaho State went on a 20-5 run to take a 26-11 lead at the 11:20 mark in the first half. The Bengals took a 49-21 lead into halftime and then continue to extend its lead in the second half.

Idaho State never cooled off from outside, connecting on 36-of-58 (62.1 percent) shots from the field and 14-of-23 (60.9 percent) from beyond the arc. The Bengals also connected on 16-of-20 shots from the charity stripe for an 80 percent clip.

The 14 made three-point field goals marks the highest single-game total since Jan. 29, 2004 when the Bengals hit 14-of-28 threes in a win at home over Eastern Washington.

"We got our inside-outside game working early and it opened up the shots for us from outside," said ISU head coach Jon Newlee. "With Natalie (Doma) dominating the post, we had open looks from outside and we were knocking them down. We know we're capable of shooting like this every night. We usually shoot the ball well at home. I thought we took good shots. We didn't rush anything today and it paid off for us."

Lightfoot scored her game-high 23 points on 8-of-12 shots from the field, including a 3-of-5 clip from long range. The junior guard was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. She also collected four assists and four rebounds in 31 minutes of play.

Natalie Doma helped with 19 points with six rebounds. Kaylynn Fager came off the bench to score 15 points with a 5-of-7 mark from three-point range. Jeni Boesel also reached double digits with 13 points with three made shots from beyond the arc.

Michelle Grohs was just one point and one rebound shy of a double-double with nine points and nine boards. Jenna Brown came off the bench to score seven points.

Idaho State will continue play at home on Dec. 20 when the team hosts Montana-Western (14-0). Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m.
