Pocatello, ID--The Idaho State women's tennis team opened the 2006 season with a 7-0 loss to Utah State Tuesday at Reed Gym. Denise Cockrell and Lauren Pascoe picked up the lone doubles win for the Bengals.
The Bengals played tough but were defeated in two out of the three doubles thus dropping behind Utah State 1-0. Cockrell and Pascoe defeated Bennion and Barker 9-8 (7-5) at No. 1 doubles.
Idaho State then lost all six singles contests to take the 7-0 loss. Denise Cockrell won a set against Lindsey Bennion 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Katherine Zigars also won a set against Dee Dee Nelson 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
The Bengals next match will occur Feb. 9 in Pocatello against Weber State.
