New Mexico State defeats Idaho State 6-1 in Women's Tennis

Salt Lake City, UT--The Idaho State women's tennis dropped a 6-1 decision to New Mexico State Saturday at the Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City. The Bengals fall to 0-4 while New Mexico State improves to 9-3. Denise Cockrell was the lone Bengal to win a match.

The Bengals dropped all three doubles contests to fall behind 1-0. New Mexico State then won five of the six singles matches to secure the 6-1 victory.

Denise played tough to defeat Edine van Beusekom 6-4, 6-3. Valerie Espinosa fought hard but was defeated in a super-ten-point tiebreaker by Paulina Zunija 6-4, 4-6, (10-7).

ISU's next match will occur on March 12 at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club in Sacramento against Sacramento State.
