Provo, UT--Despite a Jennifer Loo goal in the 27th minute that gave Idaho State an early 1-0 lead on 20th-ranked Brigham Young, the Cougars rallied to take a 2-1 overtime win Tuesday night over ISU at South Stadium in Provo, Utah.
With the loss, Idaho State falls to 1-2-0 on the season, while Brigham Young improves to 2-0-0
Loo stunned BYU in the 27th minute when she sailed a free kick from midfield over BYU's keeper. She scored unassisted to take Idaho State into halftime with a 1-0 lead. The Cougars then rallied early in the second period with a score by Amberlea Anderson in the 50th minute to tie the game at 1-1.
"We played awesome against won of the top teams in the nation tonight," said ISU head coach Allison Gibson. "Our team played their hearts out and I am very proud of the effort they gave tonight. We nearly beat a top-25 team tonight and led them for most of the game."
Idaho State kept BYU scoreless the rest of the period to send the game into overtime. Then, just four minutes into extra time, BYU's Brooke Bowman scored to secure the victory.
Idaho State's defense survived an on slot of shots throughout the match as BYU recorded a season-high 20 attempts. ISU keeper Lyndsay Gensler played all 94 minutes of the contest, collecting two saves and the two goals allowed on 20 faced shots. Idaho State recorded five shots on the night.

Natalie Graham led the Bengals with two shots fired, while Kilee Quigley, Michelle Okumura, and Loo each recorded one. Okumura and Loo each had a shot on goal for the Bengals.
"I'm proud of the way that our team stuck with the system that we have put in place," Gibson said. "Our players should be very proud of the performance they gave tonight. They believe in our system and they are improving every game."
Anderson and Bowman led BYU with four shots each.
Idaho State will continue play this week at the Governor's Cup in Boise, Idaho. The Bengals will face in-state rivals Idaho and Boise State on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
