Box Score

Boise, ID--Chantal Kim, Michelle Okumura, and Tia Burns each recorded a goal as Idaho State defeated Idaho 3-0 Friday afternoon in a Governor's Cup match at the Boise State Soccer Field.

The win pushes Idaho State's record to 2-2-0, while Idaho falls to 0-3-0 on the season. The win also gives Idaho State the opportunity to win the Governor's Cup with a win Sunday over Boise State.

Kim was first to get the Bengals on the scoreboard after receiving a midfield pass from Kilee Quigley. Kim found the ball in the box and one-touched it into the goal in the 15th minute.

Okumura then recorded her third goal of the season after scoring in the 27th minute. Okumura was on the receiving end of a second Quigley assist.

Idaho State scored its third goal with just 13 second remaining in the first half when Annamarie Hofstetter sent a ball to the right side, finding an open Burns, who dribbled once and then shot the ball into the back of the net.

"I'm of course happy with the result," said ISU head coach Allison Gibson. "We were a little sluggish at times, but we battled through it with a lot of heart and desire, and came away with the win. We continue to improve with each game, which is what I am most excited about."

The Bengals out-shot the Vandals 16-7, including an 8-3 advantage in the second half. ISU had 11 shots on goal to Idaho's three. ISU also won the battle of the corner kicks 6-1.

Maren Eves played all 90 minutes in goal for ISU, collecting three saves and a shutout victory.

Idaho State will continue Governor's Cup play on Sunday when the team takes on host Boise State at 2 p.m.
