Box Score

Pocatello, ID-Idaho State returned home for the first time in nearly a month to a large Friday, but its homecoming was short-lived as regionally-ranked Utah took a 3-1 decision over the Bengals at Davis Field.

Tied 1-1, Utah's Jen Christoffers broke lose from the pack and put the ball in the back of the net for the game winner in the 80th minute. Adele Letro assisted on the goal. Christoffers then put in her second goal of the game in the final seconds to give Utah the 3-1 victory.

"This was a tough one to take," said ISU head coach Allison Gibson. "We have been training so hard and our players really believed that we would win this game. It's too bad that one mental error can cost you a game like that. I think we out-played Utah and controlled the ball the majority of the game.

Idaho State got in a hole early after Utah's Amanda Feight put in a goal in the 26th minute to take the 1-0 lead. The goal was assisted by Letro and Kelly Isleib.

With just 20 seconds remaining in the half, ISU's Annamarie Hofstetter sent a corner kick into the box. Jennifer Loo received the ball and put it in the net to tie the game 1-1 at the half. The goal is Loo's second of the season and the ninth of her career, which moves her into a tie for seventh on the all-time ISU career goals chart.

"I was so proud of the way we battled back to tie the game," Gibson said. "That's the first time this season that we have put ourselves in a position to win the game when trailing."

Idaho State recorded four shots to Utah's seven. The Utes had four shots on goal while ISU registered two. Loo led the team with two shots, while Natalie Graham and Kalie McGuire each tallied one. Lyndsay Gensler spent the entire game in goal for the Bengals, collecting one save. Each team had three corner kicks.

The Bengals will continue play on Sunday as the team travels to Laramie to take on Wyoming. Kick-off is set for noon. ISU next returns home on Oct. 5 when the team opens Big Sky Conference play against Portland State.
