Ogden, UT--Natalie Doma and Andrea Lightfoot each recorded double-doubles as Idaho State rebounded from two straight losses with a 78-65 win over undefeated conference foe Weber State Wednesday night at the Dee Events Center.
The Bengals knock off the league's lone undefeated team to improve to 7-10 overall, 3-2 in conference play. The Bengals also improve to a perfect 3-0 in road play. Weber State falls to 11-9 overall, 6-1 in Big Sky play.
"We were a different team tonight," said ISU head coach Jon Newlee. "We were playing Idaho State basketball again. It's nice to know that your team can rebound from two tough home losses. It says a lot about our team and the character that they have."
ISU rallied late in the first half to cut an eight point Weber State lead to just four points, 32-38 at halftime. The Bengals then took the lead at the 12:55 mark of the second half and never relinquished its lead to secure the win.
Doma, who scored 15 of her 23 points in the second half, connected on 8-of-16 shots from the field, including 7-of-8 from the free throw line. She also pulled down 17 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season, her eight consecutive. Doma also had three blocks and a steal in 35 minutes of play.
Lightfoot recorded a 7-of-15 clip from the field for her 21 points. She connected on 4-of-7 treys and hit 3-of-4 free throws. The junior guard also tallied 10 rebounds for the double-double.
Jeni Boesel continued her impressive play in the Big Sky with 18 points. The senior guard went 4-of-8 from the field and hit 9-of-9 free throws, including clutch makes at the charity stripe down the stretch. Devin Diehl had nine points and Michelle Grohs added seven to round out the scoring.
As a team, Idaho State shot 43 percent from the field in the game, 53.6 percent in the second half. The Bengals hit 8-of-17 shots from beyond the arc compared to Weber State's 4-of-19 mark. The Bengals also won the rebound battle 44-41.
The Bengals continue road play at Portland State on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3:05 p.m. (MT)
