Bengals Can't Solve Grizzlies, Lose Ninth Straight

Pocatello, ID- The Montana Grizzlies hand the Idaho State Bengals their ninth straight loss 3-1 (26-30, 30-25, 22-30, 20-30) Friday night at Reed Gym. The loss keeps the Bengals hunting for their first conference win of the season. Idaho State is now 3-15 overall and 0-7 in the Big Sky. Montana improves to 7-10 overall and 3-4 in conference.

In four hard fought games, Montana got the early edge by winning game one. The Bengals came right back to take the second game. The Grizzlies would later pull away in the final two games to come up with the win.

Blakely Peppinger set things up for ISU by putting up a career high 35 assists. Britta Bartschi also set some career marks by slamming 8 kills and rising up for 3 blocks. Jessica Gurney led the Bengals in kills with 11 on 25 total attacks, hitting .240. Katie Edgson paced Idaho State on defense with 18 digs. Charlee Kinghorn punched in her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 12 digs.

Both Taryn Wright (53 assists, 10 digs) and Whitney Hobbs (18 kills, 14 digs) picked up double-doubles for Montana. Amy Roberts led the Grizzlies in kills with 19.

The Bengals will be right back in action Saturday night when they host Montana State at Reed Gym. Game set to begin at 7 pm.

Notes: Mike Welch (85) is one win away from tying Jon Potter for third for head coaching wins at Idaho State... The last Big Sky win for Idaho State came against Montana State (Saturday's opponent) in Reed Gym on October 21, 2006.
