Final Stats
Pocatello, ID --- In a rematch of last year's Big Sky Conference title game that went to penalty kicks, Idaho State and Sacramento State played their third consecutive overtime game against each other, finishing in a 1-1 double overtime game, allowing ISU to pick up their first point of the conference season.
Sacramento State (7-3-3, 1-0-1, 4 points) drew first blood as Kim Kemper chipped ISU keeper Maren Eves for her third goal of the season, that coming at the 35:54 mark. Idaho State (5-4-4, 0-1-1, 1 point) answered back just 2:48 later, when Jana Boehler snatched a loose ball in the back, dribbled around a defender and cracked home her sixth goal of the season.
From there, the goalies took over as the two teams fired off 32 shots in the second half and the two overtimes, although many were blocked before ever getting anywhere. ISU had the best opportunities in the two overtime, with Kim Crosbie sending an Annamarie Hofstetter corner over the bar nearly seven minutes in, and with just over four minutes left, Boehler nearly was the hero, ringing a shot off the post.
Maren Eves had seven saves for the Bengals, and Mandy Trojan added nine for the Hornets. Sacramento State had more corners, seven, than ISU, five.
NOTES: Boehler is second in the Big Sky with six goals ... the four ties is a school record for a season, and all four ties have been 1-1 ... ISU's defense has allowed one goal or fewer in each of the last eight games ... Eves' goals against lowered to 1.01, and the team's GAA is now at 0.99 ... Eves now has 77 saves on the year ... the Bengals now return home for three straight, including Northern Arizona (6-4-4, 1-1-0 Big Sky) on Thursday at 3:00 pm.
