Oct. 15, 2007

Final Stats

Pocatello, ID-- Sarah Carson and Britta Bartschi continue to show Idaho State Volleyball fans the future is looking bright as the two Freshmen lead the Bengals in a thrilling 3-2 (30-27, 30-23, 24-30, 28-30, 18-16) win over Boise State Monday night at Reed Gym. Carson led the way with 19 kills with Bartschi providing 16 kills. Both set new career highs.

Bartschi's thunderous kill gave the Bengals the final point they needed to complete an 18-16 final game. Idaho State was cruising early. The Bengals won the first two games, but the Broncos came back strong to force a fifth game. ISU trailed in that game 7-13 before charging back to hold off BSU.

Another super freshman, Charlee Kinghorn chalked up her third consecutive double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore Emily Waldron was strong with a double-double of her own with 14 kills and 15 digs. But it wasn't all about the youngsters. Senior Katie Edgson defended the floor with 26 digs. Christine Van Orden and Blakely Peppinger share the setter duties with 34 assists each.

Boise State got a strong effort from Mandy Klein who lifted up 62 assists and reached down for 20 digs. Lauren Hamm also provided strong defense with 22 digs. Jeanette Jenkins led the offense with 19 kills.

Idaho State will now get ready for two more matches this week when they suit up against Eastern Washington on Thursday at Reed Gym. That night the Bengals will be raising money for breast cancer research through the Dig for the Cure program.
