Pocatello, ID--Christine Van Orden was one kill shy of a triple double as the Idaho State Bengals came up short against the Eastern Washington Eagles 3-1 (31-29, 20-30, 26-30, 30-32) Thursday night at Reed Gym. Van Orden had 9 kills to go along with 51 assists and 13 digs.

Fellow freshmen Charlee Kinghorn, also emerging as one of ISU's top players, had another strong all-around effort with 16 kills and an attack percentage of .295. She also led the team with 19 digs.
It took an extra point for the Bengals to win the first game, as they outlasted EWU to win 31-29. The Eagles then took charge winning the next two games before the two teams battled in another close game. Idaho State came close to forcing a final fifth game, but Eastern Washington finished off the Bengals 32-30.
Hayley Hills topped the Eagles with 21 kills and 15 digs. Mandy Daniels led the defensive effort with 22 digs.
Idaho State will now finish up a busy week by hosting Portland State at Reed Gym Saturday night at 7:00 pm. It will be the Bengals third match of the week.
Notes: ISU participated in a nationwide program called "Dig for the Cure" to raise money for breast cancer research. The Bengals raised at least $2,100 with more pledges still to be counted... Britta Bartschi set a new career high for kills for the third consecutive match.
