Final Stats
Pocatello, ID --- Northern Colorado's freshman goalkeeper picked the right day for the game of her life, racking up 15 saves, several of the diving variety as Idaho State and Northern Colorado battled to a chippy 0-0 tie at Davis Field, a result that does nothing to help Idaho State's chances of qualifying for the conference tournament.
The Bengals played their school record 8th overtime game of the season, and drew for the 6th time overall, moving to 5-4-6 on the year, and 0-1-3 in the conference. Northern Colorado is 6-7-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the conference.
The entire second half and both overtimes were played with each team down a man, as Teresa Prais was red carded for punching ISU's Kim Crosbie, and Crosbie was given a second yellow on the same play. Prais entered the game as UNC's leading scorer and had her breakaway stuffed by ISU's Maren Eves in the opening minute.
Eves picked up her fourth shutout of the season, and registered six saves. The Bengals dominated play throughout, drilling 30 shots, 15 on frame, but they couldn't get one past Owen. ISU had several great chances, including late in the first half when Jana Boehler fed Michelle Okomura at the six, but her point blank shot was denied when Owen dove to her left and just got enough of the ball to keep it out of the net.
Ironically, in a frantic final minute, the Bears had two perfect shots to win, but with Eves beaten, Jessica Zimmerman cranked one off the bottom of the crossbar, and it bounded out to Marika Johnson who had her shot cleared off the line by Jill Christofferson.
The Bengals, who have played three straight ties, will look to get into the win column on Friday afternoon as they host Montana at 3:00 pm at Davis Field, as the Bengals push for the conference tournament with just three conference games left.
NOTES: Eves now has 83 saves on the year, and she moved into the career lead in goal against average ... Natalie Graham sat the game out with an injury, but will play Friday ... the red card was the second of the season for Bengals, as Allison Gibson was red carded against Utah ... Crosbie must sit out the Montana game.
