Flagstaff, AZ- The Idaho State Bengals will have to wait to pick up their first conference win of the season after coming up short against Northern Arizona 3-0 (26-30, 27-30, 27-30) Thursday night at Rolle Activity Center in Flagstaff.
The Bengals slip to 0-5 in the Big Sky and 3-13 overall. Northern Arizona improves to 2-4 in conference and 7-9 overall. ISU was competitive in all three games, but was unable to put the finishing touches on any of them for the loss.
The Bengals were lead by freshman Charlee Kinghorn who picked up her third double-double of her career by smacking a team high 15 kills and scooping up 10 digs. She also matched her career high with 3 total blocks.
Christine Van Orden set the table for ISU with 40 assists. That went along with 12 digs for her 8th double-double of the season. Katie Edgson led the Bengals in digs with 14.
Kim Babcock set the tone for the Lumberjacks with an impressive 21 kill, 20 dig performance. Kelly Verboom as chipped in 48 assists for NAU.
The Bengals will continue the brief two game road trip with a match Saturday night in Greeley to face Northern Colorado. The match is set to start at 7 pm.
Notes: ISU still leads the overall series with Northern Arizona 26-25... Mike Welch (85) remains one win shy of tying Jon Potter for third place on the ISU career wins list... The next five matches for the Bengals will all be at home in Reed Gym.
