Pocatello, ID--Natalie Doma recorded her 14th straight double-double with 31 points and 13 rebounds while four other Bengals reached double digit scoring as Idaho State defeated Northern Arizona 95-79 Saturday afternoon at Reed Gym.
The win marks the third-straight for ISU, which improves to 10-12 overall, 6-4 in Big Sky play. NAU falls to 15-9 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
Leading by just four points, 47-43, at the 18:28 mark of the second half, Idaho State used a 12-5 run to extend the lead to double digits, 59-48. From that point, ISU continued to build upon its lead and never let NAU get closer than 10 points.
"We are capable of doing this every day," said ISU head coach Jon Newlee. "The fun and gun can get it done. I was very pleased with how we played today. Everyone contributed today. It's team basketball. I think our starters did what was expected and our bench gave us a big lift today."
Doma tallied her 17th double-double of the season with 31 points, marking the fifth time this season that the junior center has reached the 30-point echelon. Doma connected on 13-of-16 shots from the field, including a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe. She also contributed a pair of steals.
Andrea Lightfoot put in 16 points on 6-of-16 shots from the field. She also dished out seven assists and pulled down six rebounds in the effort. Jeni Boesel notched her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 assists. Michelle Grohs contributed with 15 points and four rebounds. Grohs was impressive from the field, hitting 7-of-8 shots.
Boesel was perfect on the game, hitting 3-of-3 shots from the field, 2-of-2 shots from beyond the arc, and connecting on a 4-of-4 mark from the free throw line. Devin Diehl also registered double figures with 10 points.
The Bengals recorded a 60.7 percent mark from the field (34-of-56) and an 81.5 percentage from the free throw line. ISU also connected on 5-of-12 threes. ISU held NAU to a 5-of-21 clip from beyond the arc.
ISU also won the battle of the boards 38-26.
Idaho State now heads out on its final regular season road trip of the season as the team travels to play Montana State and Montana on Feb. 16 and 18, respectively. The Bengals will then close out the season with four straight home games.
NOTES: Doma moved into second on the all-time career scoring list.... Her 31 points against NAU gives her 1,354 points, moving her ahead of Ashley Toner's 1,342 for the second spot.... Mandi Carver holds the all-time career scoring mark at 1,538.
