ISU Drops 10-4 Decision to Iowa

Tempe, AZ--Idaho State wrapped up play at the Arizona State Littlewood Classic with a 10-4 loss to Iowa Sunday morning at Farrington Stadium. The Bengals finish play at the Classic with a 0-5 record. The loss drops the first-year Bengals to 0-9 overall on the season, while Iowa improves to 6-4.

After falling behind 6-0 after two complete innings, ISU rallied with four runs in the top of the third to cut the deficit to just two runs. The Hawkeyes then countered with two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to secure the win.

ISU leftfielder Kaylie Neal and second baseman Christine Shollenberger paced Idaho State with two hits each. Shollenberger also knocked in a pair of runs.

Christine Keeton, Amanda Stachowsky, and Shanna Schmitz also recorded a hit.

The Bengals stranded nine players on base throughout the contest. ISU committed two errors in the game.

Heather Dixon and Lindsay Boughton each pitched three innings for Idaho State. Dixon faced 14 batters, allowing four earned runs and six hits. Boughton recorded a strikeout with three earned runs.

Idaho State now takes a 11 days off before traveling to Caldwell to take on Albertson in a double-header on March 2.
