Pocatello, ID--The ISU men's tennis team was swept by Utah State 7-0 Friday afternoon at Reed Gym. Senior Masimba Ruwo went to three sets at the number two singles spot. ISU's season record drops to 1-6.
The Bengals were defeated in all three doubles contests putting them behind 1-0. Gal Horovits and Ruwo played a tough match but were defeated by Oscar Ericsson and Jonas Tyden 8-6 at the number one spot. Jeremy Atkin and David Kutchins were defeated 8-6 by Mike Banks and Fernando Gallegos at the number three spot.
In singles play, Horovits was the last off the courts when he was defeated in two tie-breakers against Hannes Schenk 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3) at the number one singles spot. Ruwo started off strong by winning the first set 6-0, but fell to Ericsson 0-6, 6-1, 6-0 at the number two spot.
The Bengals next match will occur on March 10th against Northern Arizona in Flagstaff at 1:00 p.m.
