Sacramento, CA--Natalie Doma recorded a 30-point, 13-rebound double-double and Andrea Lightfoot scored 26 points as Idaho State routed Sacramento State 83-59 Saturday afternoon at the Hornets Nest.
Idaho State improves to 8-12 overall and evens its Big Sky record at 4-4. Sacramento State falls to 3-19 overall, 1-7 in league play.
"We played so well as a team today," said ISU head coach Jon Newlee. "We shared the ball, moved it around well, and it translated into easy baskets for us."
The Bengals jumped out to take a quick 11-2 lead over the first three minutes and never looked back, going up by as many as 30 points in the first half. ISU took a 45-19 lead into halftime. The Bengals used its lead from the first half to secure the 24-point victory.
Doma scored her 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor, including a perfect 10-of-10 mark from the charity stripe. She also pulled down 13 rebounds. Lightfoot connected on 10-of-15 shots from the floor for her 26 points, including a 4-of-6 mark from beyond the arc. Lightfoot toyed with a triple-double, notching seven rebounds and seven assists.
Michelle Grohs also reached double figures with 12 points off the bench. Five others also found points in the win.
As a team, Idaho State connected on 30-of-66 shots from the floor (45.5 percent) and 10-of-28 shots from long range (35.7 percent). The Bengals hit 13-of-14 free throws. The Bengals held the Hornets to a 31.9 percent clip from the field and just a 14 percent mark from long range (3-of-21).
Idaho State now heads home to host Northern Colorado on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m.
