Idaho State Cruises Past Northern Colorado 90-65

Pocatello, ID--Natalie Doma notched her 16th double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds as Idaho State defeated Northern Colorado 90-65 Thursday night at Reed Gym. The win marks the second-straight for ISU, which improves to 9-12 overall and 5-4 in Big Sky play. UNC falls to 5-19 overall, 2-9 in the league.

Idaho State built a 47-31 lead by halftime and added to it in the second half. The Bengals led by as many as 39 points, 82-43, with 9:05 to play in the final period. ISU then scored just eight more points through the final nine minutes as Northern Colorado cut the final lead to 25 points.

"We are successful when we play as a team," said ISU head coach Jon Newlee. "We were passing the ball around and hitting the open player. We distributed the ball very well tonight."

Doma scored her team-high 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including a perfect 6-of-6 mark from the charity stripe. The junior center also recorded two assists and a pair of steals.

Jeni Boesel toyed with a triple-double, recording 18 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Boesel knocked down 6-of-11 shots from the field, including a pair of shots from long range. Andrea Lightfoot also reached double digits with 15 points.

Devin Deal scored nine points on three made shots from beyond the arc. Aralee Smith came off the bench to score eight points, while Michelle Grohs, Kaylynn Fager, and Oana Iacovita each added five.

Idaho State won the battle of the boards 39-32, including a 14-7 advantage on the offensive side. ISU shot 45.5 percent from the field and 44 percent from long range. The Bengals committed just seven turnovers while forcing Northern Colorado into 17.

Heather Barbour led UNC with 27 points and Whitley Cox helped with 25.

The Bengals continue play at home against Northern Arizona on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:05 p.m.
