Bengal Softball Falls 9-1 to Loyola Marymount Friday Afternoon

St. George, UT--Idaho State dropped to 0-3 on the season with a 9-1 loss to Loyola Marymount Friday afternoon at the Red Desert Classic held at the St. George Canyons Complex. Christine Shollenberger recorded the lone run of the game for ISU.

ISU left seven players on base in the loss, including two in the second, three in the fourth, and two more in the fifth. The Bengals scored their lone run of the game in the fifth inning when Heather Dixon hit a single, knocking in Schollenberger for the score.

Dixon finished the game, going 2-for-3 from the plate with a pair of singles. Shanna Schmitz recorded the only other hit of the game for ISU, hitting a single in the fifth inning.

Andrea Coburn got the start in the circle for ISU, allowing six hits and five earned runs in 2.1 innings of work. Kandis Clesson also pitched for ISU, allowing just one earned run with one strikeout.

ISU gave up five of its nine runs in the third inning.

The Bengals wrap up play at the Red Desert Classic on Saturday against Utah State. Opening pitch is set for 1:30 p.m.
