Bengals Drop Two Games to 16th-Ranked Oregon State

Corvallis, OR--Idaho State wrapped up its Oregon road swing with a pair of losses to 16th-ranked Oregon State on Sunday, falling 9-0 in game one before dropping an 8-0 decision in the nightcap.

The Bengals fall to 4-26 overall this season while Oregon State improves to 24-10.

OSU scored two runs in first, second, and fourth innings before adding three more in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win. Kylie Bronson was the lone Bengal to record a hit in the first game, hitting a single to center field.

Lindsay Boughton went the distance in the circle for ISU, collecting four strikeouts with seven earned runs. OSU's Brianne McGowan had a no-hitter going through 4.2 innings before Bronson hit her single into center field.

Idaho State had its opportunities in the nightcap, collecting four hits and leaving seven stranded on base. The Bengals best chance to score runs came in the second inning. With two outs, ISU rallied to load the bases, but ended the inning with a pop out to shortstop.

Oregon State scored two runs in the first inning, followed by one in the third, four in the fifth and one more in the fifth to take the win.

Amanda Stachowsky, Kaylie Neal, Shanna Schmitz, and Stephanie James each recorded a base hit for ISU in the second game.

Andrea Coburn pitched all 5.1 innings for ISU, while OSU's Kelly Dyer picked up the win for the Beavers.

Idaho State continues play at Brigham Young on March 30 and 31. The Bengals will take on the Cougars on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at noon.
