Logan, UT-- ISU women's tennis was defeated by Utah State 7-0 Tuesday afternoon. Lisel Lewis and Sophie Dang teamed up to win a victory for the Bengals in the third doubles match. The Bengals' season record falls to 2-6 with a Big Sky record of 0-3.
The Bengals lost two of the three doubles matches to put them behind 1-0 early in the match. Lewis and Dang defeated Bridget Strickland and Erin Crane 8-6 at the number three spot. Lewis and Dang's doubles record improves to 2-2. Valerie Espinosa and Katherine Zigars fought hard but were overcome by Laruen and Erin Monson 9-7 at the number one doubles spot.
Idaho State then lost six of the six singles contests to take the 7-0 loss. Freshman, Dang had a close match with Brianna Harris but was defeated 6-4, 6-4 at the number three singles spot. Senior, Zigars was overcome by Dee Dee Nelson 6-3, 6-3 at the number four singles spot. Sophomore, Anastasia Sazykina was defeated 6-3, 6-2 by Bridget Strickland at the number six singles spot.
The Bengals next match with be against Sacramento State in Reed Gym on Saturday, April 14th at 3 p.m.
