Bengals Fall 3-1 to Utah Valley

Pocatello, ID--In a match that saw 30 ties and 18 lead changes, Idaho State came up just short, falling 3-1 (16-30, 30-28, 29-31, 31-33) to Utah Valley in a back-and-forth battle Saturday night at Reed Gym. With the loss, ISU falls to 3-11 on the season while UVU gets above .500 with a 6-5 record.

Emily Waldron led the Bengals with 13 kills and Charlee Kinghorn also reached double figures with 12. Waldron collected her 13 kills on 36 attacks with only five errors. Kinghorn tallied 40 attacks with seven errors. Christine Van Orden notched a double-double with a team-high 35 assists and 12 digs.

Kinghorn also had an impressive night defensively, picking up a team-high 19 digs. Sarah Carson and Jessica Gurney led ISU with three blocks each.

Idaho State registered 47 kills in the match on 156 total attacks for a .109 hitting mark. The Wolverines recorded a .230 hitting mark with 75 kills and 183 attacks. UVU also held the edge with 12 blocks to ISU's seven.

Camie Manwill led Utah Valley with 24 kills, followed by Jessica Endres who had 17.

Idaho State will continue play at home when it hosts Sacramento State on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
