Bengals Bid for First Conference Win Falls Short Against Hornets

Pocatello, ID- The Idaho State Bengals fell short of picking up their first conference win with a 3-0 (16-30, 20-30, 22-30) loss to the Sacramento State Hornets Friday night at Reed Gym. The Bengals are now 0-4 in Big Sky play and 3-12 overall. Sacramento State improves to 3-0 in the conference and 14-3 overall.


Idaho State played Sacramento State close early in all three games before the Hornets pulled away late. The Bengals were unable to rally to get back into any of the games.


Sarah Carson led the Bengals with 9 kills hitting a .364 for the match. She had 22 attacks and only one error. Carson also led ISU with 4 total blocks.


Christine Van Orden led Idaho State in assists with 15. Emily Waldron and Katie Edgson each had 8 digs to pace the Bengals in that category.


As a team, Idaho State hit .121 on 107 total attacks.


Missie Stidham (18 kills, 11 digs), Rose Burke (46 assists, 12 digs), and Jennifer Ferguson (12 kills, 10 digs) all registered double-doubles for Sacramento State.


The Bengals will now hit the road for a couple of conference games. On October 4th, the ISU will visit Northern Arizona, followed by a match with Northern Colorado on October 6th. After that, Idaho State will have 5 consecutive home games.


Notes: Former ISU Volleyball star Nikki Havens sang the national anthem before the game... Freshman Britta Bartschi recorded a career high 2 digs.
