Cheney, WA --- The Idaho State Bengals begin 2-0 in conference play for the second straight season and seventh time overall after beating Eastern Washington on the road 76-69 Thursday night at Reese Court. National player of the year candidate Natalie Doma picked up her 13th double-double in 14 games with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Idaho also got a solid game out of Michelle Grohs who pitched in 17 points. The Bengals moved to 2-0 in the Big Sky and 10-4 overall. The Eagles slipped down to 0-3 in conference and 3-13 overall.
Andrea Lightfoot struggled from the floor shooting 2-10 but did most of her damage from the line to contribute 11 points. She also provided four assists and five rebounds. The Bengal post players shot well. Grohs went 6-10 from the floor and Doma shot 10-18. The Bengals also got a career-high eight points from Oana Iacovita off the bench.
The Bengals will now travel to Portland State on Saturday for an early season first place battle. The Vikings are 3-0 in the Big Sky after beating Weber State Thursday night. Notes: Michelle Grohs has blocked a shot in a career-best six straight games... She has 12 blocks in those six games... Andrea Videbeck was in a giving mood. She played only three minutes, but led the team with five assists... Idaho State is now 6-0 this season when allowing 69 or fewer points... Andrea Lightfoot (314) passed Ashley Toner (309) for third on ISU's career free throws made list...Idaho State made a three point shot for the 171st consecutive game.
