Pocatello, ID--Idaho State fell to Northern Colorado in straight sets as they were out hit by the Bears at Reed Gym Saturday night. Northern Colorado improves to 11-5 for the season with a 5-2 Big Sky record while the Bengals fall to 3-14 for the season and 1-5 in conference.

The Bengals were out hit as Northern Colorado posted 48 kills with 12 errors from 121 attempts for a .298 attack percentage while Idaho State recorded 35 kills with 18 errors from 113 attempts for a .150 percentage. Northern Colorado solidly attacked in each set as they posted .325 in the first set, .289 in the second and .278 in the third.

Idaho State continues to perform its best in the first set as they recorded their highest attack percentage at .189 from 12 kills and posted two tied scores and three lead changes.

Teichert knows his players can step up and perform well as they fight back often tying the scores late in the first set. During breaks he encourages them to go all out. "I tell them to play to win," said head coach Chad Teichert. "A lot of times you make errors because you are playing safe, playing not to lose instead of to win. You've got to play to win."

Freshman Jaclyn Hone internalized Teichert's advice which propelled her to have her best game of her career as she earned 12.5 points. Hone's performance was the first time this season a player other than junior Emily Waldron lead the Bengals in points.

"Jaclyn, she was swinging away tonight," said head coach Chad Teichert. "She's done a good job and hopefully she will continue to do more."

Hone record 11 kills with only four errors from 29 attempts for a .241 attack percentage. However, Waldron recorded the team-high attack percentage of .304 with eight kills and only one error from 23 attempts.

Both teams posted five team blocks with eight block assists and one solo each, but UNC recorded two block errors as they made contact with the net to stop Idaho State from making at attack. Senior Brenda Cooper recorded three block assists and three kills for the Bengals.

The Bengals return to action at home in Reed Gym on Tuesday, October 14 at 7 p.m. against Utah Valley for their second match-up of the season. Idaho State fell to Utah Valley in Orem 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 26-24).
