Complete Montana State Box Score 
Bozeman, MT--Idaho State dominated the attack against Montana State to post a 3-1 victory (25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 25-15) at the Shroyer Gym Saturday night. The Bengals improve their Big Sky record to 2-6 while MSU falls to 0-8 in conference play. Two Bengals posted double-doubles. Senior Blakely Peppinger posted 23 assists and 13 digs while freshman Jaclyn Hone recorded 12 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore Britta Bartschi earned 13.5 points for the Bengals with 12 kills and three block assists.
Idaho State came out charging as they took a commanding 5-1 lead forcing the Bobcats into a timeout to reduce the momentum, but could never overcome the Bengals. Points came and went swiftly as ISU easily put the ball to the floor without hesitation. Hone posted five kills with two errors from 15 attempts for a .200 attack percentage.
Sophomore Sarah Carson recorded a .667 percentage from two kills with no errors from three attempts. Carson also recorded two block assists. Idaho State posted a sideout percentage of 68 with 15 being converted in the first.
The Bengals had a slow start in the second set as Montana State stepped up to play longer rallies. However, ISU would not let the lead last for long as they tied the score at 5-5 from sophomore Bartschi's second kill of the night. Bartschi recorded four solid kills in the second set with zero errors from attempts for a .800 percentage.
Senior Brenda Cooper also commanded the attack with four kills. Idaho State tied up the score but could not string together enough points to overcome the Bobcats. Montana State recorded an attack percentage of .171 with 11 kills and five errors from 35 attempts, while ISU posted a .128 percentage from 13 kills and eight errors from 39 attempts.
Montana State continued off its momentum into the third leading the scoreboard until Bartschi made a kill to improve the score down from 7-9 where the Bengals strung together six points to take the lead 13-9. Middle blocker Bartschi came out firing in the third as she posted four kills with zero errors from seven attempts for an impressive .571 percentage. Sophomore Ashlyn McDowell posted three kills from four attempts with zero errors for an exciting .750 attack percentage.
Together the Bengals recorded a solid .275 percentage in the third which awarded them the set while the Bobcats only mustered a .130 percentage. The final point in the third was intense as Montana State hit a deep attack crosscourt where Hone sacrificed her body diving into the air. Using their momentum to their advantage the Bengals dominated the fourth set. Idaho State played calmly and made smart decisions as they used every opportunity to their advantage to outhit the Bobcats .206 to .000 in attack percentage. Idaho State recorded 13 kills with six errors from 34 attempts while MSU posted eight kills and eight errors from 39 attempts. McDowell came out swinging in the fourth recording four kills with zero errors from seven attacks for a .571 percentage.
Defensively, the Bengals posted seven blocks to Montana State's 12.5, simply due to the Bengals playing an offensive matchup and controlling points with their attacks. McDowell posted four block assists while Bartschi recorded three. Four Bengals posted double digits in digs: Waldron, Hone, Peppinger and Palmer with 16, 17, 13 and 14 respectively.
Idaho State will return to action against Eastern Washington on Thursday, October 23 on Reese Court at 8 p.m. Mountain time, then travel to take on Portland State on Saturday, October 24 at the Peter W. Stott Center at 8 p.m. Mountain Time.
