Flagstaff, AZ--Idaho State was defeated by Northern Arizona 1-0 as Cee Cee Ordofer posted a goal in the final 11:05 of play on Sunday afternoon at the Lumberjack Stadium. Freshman Bailey Williams returned to the keeper position playing tremendous defense recording a season-high ten saves. Northern Arizona improves to 2-1-1 in conference play while the Bengals fall 0-3-1 in the Big Sky.
Idaho State started off strong as they recorded seven shots in the first period alone, but was only able to unleash three in the second as Nothern Arizona attacked the goal in the first twenty mintues. Junior Annamarie Hofstetter led the team in her offensive aggressiveness posting half the team shots with five total and three on goal. Senior Midfielder Kilee Quigley and freshman Noelle Sanders each posted a shot on goal.
Williams faced 25 shots, 19 of which came in the second period as the Lumberjacks came on strong. Williams posted four saves in the first period and seven in the second to record eleven saves in 90 minutes of play. She allowed only one goal by two-time Big Sky Player of the Week, junior Cee Cee Ordofer at the 78:55 mark. Ordofer's eighth goal of the season came from a turnover shot by Sarah Neatherton near the post.
"The game plan for us now is finding the small victories," said head coach Allison Gibson about the loss to NAU. "We've said that we can't give up the early goals and we did that."
The Bengals will return home where they post their best results (1-1-3) as they take on Sacramento State on Thursday, October 23 and Portland State on Saturday, October 25 at Davis Field. The Bengals will take on Sacramento State at 4 p.m. and will have their senior day against Portland State, the last home game of the season against Portland State at 1 p.m.
