Pocatello, ID--After dominating 90 minutes of play in every aspect, Idaho State (3-11-4, bsc 1-4-1) was defeated by Portland State 1-0 when the Vikings (5-10-3; bsc 4-1-1) scored on a rebound off keeper Bailey Williams 2:15 into the second period. In their last home game of the season, the Bengals dominated possession and out shot the Vikings 16 to four and posted seven corner kicks to PSU's three.

"To play soccer the way we just played soccer and not to get a reward from it is unbelievable. It's absolutely heartbreaking," said head coach Allison Gibson. "But the bottom line is that these kids, they just fought so hard and gave everything they possibly could."

The Bengals started off strong dominating their opponents in shots as they posted seven in the first period alone to Portland State's single shot. ISU finished strong with nine shots to PSU's three, but could not net a goal. At 2:15 into the second period, ISU keeper Williams blocked a cross from the Viking's Dolly Enneking. The rebound went to Frankie Ross who placed the ball just inside the bottom left post, giving Ross her third goal of the season.

Williams did not see much action as the Bengals kept the ball on Viking territory. She faced only four shots and made one save that occurred in the second period. During the attack Idaho State came on strong in the second period posting six of their seven corner kicks, five of which came in the last 30 minutes of play.

Three Bengals, senior midfielder Kilee Quigley, senior defender Katie Miller, and redshirt junior Jana Davis-Boehler, played their final home game of their careers. Quigley posted the game-high six shots, four on goal. Miller was able to record a shot as she broke through the backlines and just missed wide to the left. Davis-Boehler, a forward, posted a single shot during her last game.

Portland State keeper Cris Lewis recorded five saves, three in the first period alone. Lewis recorded her second shutout of the season. With the victory Portland State became the Big Sky Conference leader with 13 points.

Idaho State's has no chance of attending conference, but in any case, Idaho State will play for pride as they take on the Wildcats at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1 at the Wildcat Soccer Stadium.
