Pocatello, ID--Weber State defeated the Bengals 2-0 to clinch the regular-season title when they scored two goals in the first 30 minutes of play and Idaho State was unable to counter Saturday afternoon at the Wildcat Soccer Stadium. Weber State improved its overall record to 8-9-2 and improved its Big Sky record to 5-2. Idaho State finished the season with a 3-12-4 record and posted a 1-5-1 Big Sky record.

With nothing to lose, as the Bengals would not be attending the conference tournament, Idaho State started off aggressively posting three solid shots and a foul before the Wildcats could let off a single shot. The first shot was attempted by redshirt junior Jana Davis-Boehler that fell wide. Davis-Boehler posted four shots during the match with one on goal.

Freshman Noelle Sanders recorded the first on goal shot at 6:16 that was blocked by keeper Rebecca Ritchie. Sophomore and lead scorer for ISU, Lauren Ryan quickly followed the shot and made an attempt at 6:23 tagging the crossbar in the process. It was not the only near goal ISU had. Just three minutes into the second period junior Annamarie Hofstetter took a shot that rang off the post. Hofstetter recorded four shots during the game with two on goal.

Wildcat keeper Ritchie faced 16 shots by the Bengals, 11 of which came in the first period alone, and she recorded four saves. Idaho State out shot Weber State 16 to 13, however the Wildcats were more accurate as they posted ten shots on goal.

Redshirt senior Maren Eves-Williams was put in at goal to serve the last game of her career. She faced 13 shots and recorded eight saves. Eves-Williams faced nine shots in the first period. She recorded four saves, but allowed two goals in the first 30 minutes of play. The first goal was scored at 14:49 when Hayley McCoy back passed the ball to Whitney Smith who chipped it past the outstretched arms of Eves-Williams to score her fifth goal of the season. Just 4:36 later Wildcat McCoy made a pass up the left side of the field to Smith who crossed the ball for Molli Neilson to get a head on it and find the back of the net.

Able to regain composure in the second period, the Bengals neutralized the Wildcat offense keeping them to just four shots in the second period. ISU had three corner kicks to Weber States one, two of Idaho State's corner kicks came in the second period while Weber State posted its in the first.

With the victory Weber State won the regular-season title and therefore will host the Big Sky Conference Championship Thursday, November 6 and Saturday November 9 in Ogden, Utah.
