Final Stats
Pocatello, ID --- For the second straight game, the Bengals had five players score in double figures as Idaho State stayed a half game ahead of Portland State by beating Northern Arizona 85-70 Saturday night at Reed Gym. National player of the year candidate Natalie Doma led the Bengals with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Idaho State got a career-high 11 points from Oana Iacovita. The Bengals sit a half game ahead of Portland State for second in the Big Sky standings with one game remaining.
Idaho State started off struggling from the field missing their first eight shots from the field. Northern Arizona took advantage by building up a 12-2 lead in the first 4:16 of the game. Idaho State then found their rhythm by hitting seven of their next nine shots and went on a 14-2 run to climb back into the game. Iacovita and Devin Diehl led the charge back scoring five points each during that run. Diehl ended up with 10 points.
The Bengals showed off their depth with nine players getting at least ten minutes on the floor. The Bengals bench out-scored the Lumberjack bench 33-16. They also shared the ball with 17 assists on 30 field goals. Idaho State also won the battle on the glass out-rebounding the Lumberjacks 44-33.
Laura Dinkins led the way for the Northern Arizona with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Idaho State now has just one game remaining on the schedule. They will host Weber State on March 8th at 2:05 pm. The Bengals will need some help to secure the second seed in the Big Sky tournament. They need Portland State to lose at least one their final two games to have a chance. The Vikings finish their season at Montana State and Montana. Portland State owns the tiebreaker over the Bengals by virtue of sweeping them.
Notes: Idaho State blocked two shots. One was by 5'3" Jenna Brown and the other by 5'4" Andrea Videbeck. They had a combined three blocks coming into the game.
