Pocatello, ID--The Idaho State women's team swept by Montana 7-0 at Reed Gym Friday afternoon. Montana improves to a 4-3 Big Sky record while the Bengals fall to a 0-7 record.

In doubles the Bengals fell behind 1-0 early in the match. Senior Valerie Espinosa and Sophomore Sophie Dang were defeated 8-2 by Mari Castello and Liz Walker at the number one doubles spot. Junior Stephanie Roldan and Sophomore Lisel Lewis were up 5-1 but dropped seven games to Rebecca Bran and Jessica Souza and fell 8-5 at the number two spot. The third doubles match was forfeited by the Bengals.

In singles Dang exited the courts first after a well fought effort. Dang fell to Paulson 6-3, 6-2 at the number three doubles spot. On court four a rival ensued between Espinosa and Martyna Nowak. Espinosa took the first set 7-5 quickly. In the second set the Bengal was up 6-5, (30-0) but struggled to finish the match. She eventually fell 7-4 in the tiebreaker and 10-2 in the super ten-point tiebreaker for the third set.

Lewis fell to Walker 6-0 in the first set, but fired up to take the second set 6-3. Walker countered Lewis to take the third set 6-3 at the number one spot. Roldan was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Castello at the number two spot. Magaly Rivera, a junior, took three games from Rebecca Bran when the Bengal was defeated 6-2, 6-1 at the number five spot. The number six singles spot was forfeited.

The Bengals return to action on Saturday, April 19th against Montana State at 10 a.m. for their last match of the season. The dual match also signifies Senior Espinosa's last match of her career. Come out and support your Bengals at Reed Gym.
