Bengals drop 7-0 Decision to Montana State

Pocatello, ID--The Idaho State women's tennis team was defeated by Montana State 7-0 in their last match of the season. Montana State improves their Big Sky record to 6-2 while the Bengals fell to 0-8 placing them last in conference play.

The Bengals dropped the doubles point starting the match behind 1-0. Senior Valerie Espinosa teamed with Sophomore Sophie Dang and was defeated by Allison Fey and Ali Griffin 8-5 at the number one doubles spot. Junior's Magaly Rivera and Stephanie Roldan fell to Stephanie Jasper and Laura Villegas 8-0 at the number two spot. The number three doubles spot was forfeited by Idaho State.

In singles, Lisel Lewis, a sophomore, fought a tough match against Jasper but fell 6-3, 6-3 at the number one singles spot. Roldan fired up in the second set but fell short when Hernandez won 6-1, 6-3 at the number two spot. At the number three spot Dang put up an excellent fight taking the score to deuce numerous times but could not complete the games and fell 6-0, 6-1 to Villegas.

Senior Espinosa competed in her last singles match of her career at Idaho State against Griffin. Espinosa who has been suffering from a neck injury fell to Griffin 6-1, 6-1 at the number four singles spot. Rivera was defeated by Fey 6-1 in the first set and fired up for the second set but fell short 6-4 at the number five spot.
