Colorado Springs, CO--The Bengals split on the road as they fall 2-1 to Colorado College at Stewart Field on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Colorado College, who is ranked 12th in the Central Region by soccerbuzz.com, improves its season to 3-0 while the Bengals fall 2-1.

The Bengals started off aggressively and scored the first goal of the game. After a flip-throw from freshman Alex Hansen into the opponents' goal box, sophomore Crosby Joyner connected with the ball off a rebound from the keeper and netted the goal at 22:52 giving the midfielder the second goal of her career.

At 31:54 the Colorado College's forward Tiffany Brown ran down a free ball and made a breakaway charge toward freshman keeper Michelle Harrison creating a one-on-one opportunity. As Harrison took two positioning steps out of the box to defend, she tripped on a tuff of grass and fell to her knees. Brown took advantage of the opportunity and though Harrison made it to her feet before the Tiger took the shot Harrison was unable to cover and Brown tied the game at 1-1.

The Tigers defense was solid during the match and kept the Bengals at bay providing few scoring opportunities. Idaho State was only able to take five shots in the first period, while Colorado College had 14. The Bengal backline felt the strains of fatigue toward the end of the first half and into the second as they played nearly the entire game.

"We kind of let up in the first half," said head coach Allison Gibson. "They let fatigue and altitude get into their head. If you let down you will get punished."

After the fast paced first half, Colorado College took a shot towards the Bengal goal to the left of freshman keeper Bailey Williams, who took over the position at the half. The shot was netted in, but the Tiger was offside therefore negating the goal. Within a one minute period Colorado College's Emily Beans mirrored the previous play but remained onside and netted the shot from Brown at 64:03 to score the game-winning goal. Brown had a three point game.

The Tigers continued on their strong aggressive style of play and gave the Bengals only four shots in the second period while Colorado College had eight. During the first period keeper Harrison recorded eight saves while Williams in the second recorded four.

The style of game was similar to the Bengals added coach Gibson. "They played the same system as us and they play it well," said Gibson. Idaho State young roster continues to get comfortable with the system. However, Colorado College's head coach Geoff Bennett has developed his system for five years.

The Bengals return to action to defend their Governor's Cup Title in Moscow, Idaho and will begin by competing against Boise State on September 5 at 3:00 p.m. at Guy Wicks Field.
