Pocatello, ID--Idaho State started off strong with a goal against UC Davis in the first 1:35 of play but was overcome in the second period to drop its first home game since its loss to Portland State on October 5, 2006, ending the Bengals longest streak with 13 undefeated home games in the 2-1 loss at Davis Field Friday afternoon.

UC Davis improves to a 3-2-2 record while Idaho State falls 2-5-1 for the season. The Bengals started off aggressively and controlled possession during the first period. ISU forward Lauren Ryan took only one shot during the game but made it count as she scored the first goal of the game, the second of the season, when she netted a cross from junior Annamarie Hofstetter. Ryan now leads the Bengals in points for the season with four.

The goal by Ryan not only ended the 339:39 in which the Bengals had gone scoreless since their goal against Boise State, it also tied Hofstetter for the most assists in a career in Idaho State history. Midfielder Hofstetter saved her 18th career assist for her home pitch of Davis Field as she tied Heather Hunt-Jones who set the record when she finished her career in 2003. Hofstetter will certainly top the record books by the end of the season if not by the end of her career as she has her senior year to climb the charts. The Bengal recorded two shots with one on goal.

Senior Kilee Quigley led the Bengals in shots when she recorded five shots, three on goal during the game. Idaho State out-shot the Aggies 12 to 11, posting six shots each period. UC Davis recorded eight shots in the first period and made the most of the three shots in the second as they scored on two. The first goal for UC Davis came from a cross by Lauren Huntley to Jordan Martin who netted the goal in the bottom right corner, the second of her season, to tie the game.

The game-winning goal for UC Davis was decided by the rule book in a fluke occurrence. As the goal would have stood until reviewed, Aggie Lauren Huntley made a cross to Lisa Kemp who took a shot in the bottom left corner of the goal. Sophomore Lauren Hough was guarding the line, but unfortunately after the ball crossed the line awarding the goal to UC Davis the ball bounced off Hough's right foot before hitting the back of the net. The play was later reviewed by the rule book and was made to be recorded as an own goal.

UC Davis' aggressive play in the second period opened up more opportunities for possession and recorded the team 14 fouls to ISU's six in the second period; each team posted seven in the first.

Freshman keeper Bailey Williams started the game to play 80:35 recording the only save of the game. Freshman keeper Michelle Harrison found playing time in the final 9:25 of the game recording no saves or goals against. Williams was awarded the game and holds a 1-5-1 record as keeper. Aggie keeper Sarah Peters played all 90 minutes to record four saves.

Idaho State will return to action hungry to defend their home turf as they host Wyoming in the final match of the Idaho State Classic at Davis Field on Sunday, September 21, at 2 p.m.
