Ogden, UT--Senior Emily Waldron was one kill shy of achieving the Triple Crown of 1,000-career kills, digs and points when the Bengals finished their first round of conference matches with a four set loss to Weber State at the Swenson Gym Wednesday night. Idaho State and Weber State each post a 3-5 conference record after the match up.

Waldron and Jaclyn Hone posted mirror-imaged double-doubles as Waldron recorded 18 kills and ten digs while Hone posted 10 kills and 18 digs. Waldron record a .390 attack percentage with her 18 kills which was the match-high, while Hone posted the match-high in digs. Junior Sarah Carson recorded the match-high six block assists.

Idaho State controlled the first set for their set win while a seemingly rejuvenated Weber State captured the second set with ease. The two teams battled for position in the third and fourth sets with the Wildcats coming out on top. Weber State's Chelsea Bair recorded her fifth straight double-double for the season with 16 kills and 16 digs. Wildcat Caitlyn Anderson also recorded 16 digs.

The Bengals trailed late into the first set but the Bengals tied it up at 21-all with a team block from Waldron and Carson. Idaho State's solid defensive efforts kept them competing as they went on to post four team blocks in the first set. The Bengals put the set away offensively as they hit a .312 attack percentage as they had 13 kills from 32 attempts and only three errors.

A battle ensued in the second set with the teams trading 10 tied scores and four lead changes. Idaho State jumped ahead posting a 19-16 lead, but they could not sustain as the Wildcats powered their way past the Bengals hitting an impressive .562 attack percentage as a team to record 19 kills from 32 attempts with only one error. Idaho State struggled against the hard-hitting attack defensively as they posted zero blocks. Even with the Bengals improving offensively from a .312 attack percentage to a .387 they could not match the intensity of Weber State.

Weber State wasted no time in the third set as they jumped out to a 10-6 lead. The Bengals fought back creeping to within two points before the Wildcats closed out the set. Both teams' hitting percentage fell below a .300 percentage. Weber State added four blocks to the set while Idaho State added one.

Idaho State came out renewed in the fourth set as they began to swing away taking a 12-9 lead, but the Wildcats would not let it slip away as they tied the score at 17-all. Weber State edged out the Bengals until late in the set when ISU tied it up at 21-all with back-to-back team blocks. With a nail biting finish the Bengals took away match point on a kill from Haylee Thompson, but Weber State took back the lead and captured the set 26-24.

Weber State out-blocked the Bengals 11-to-9. ISU last recorded nine team blocks against Eastern Washington. Idaho State will return home to host back-to-back matches against Seattle on Friday and Utah Valley on Saturday.

Notes: Kolay Mickelsen-Sutton started the third set and recorded two kills from her two attempts for a 1.00 attack percentage. She also posted one block assist.
