Bozeman, MT--Career-highs abound push the Bengals past Montana State in an exciting five set contest (25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-10) to complete Idaho State's road sweep for the Bengals first of the conference season Saturday night at Shroyer Gym. Senior outside hitter Emily Waldron posted a career-high 25 kills from a remarkable .500 attack percentage in her double-double performance with 13 digs with a .500 to lead Idaho State while sophomore setter Karissa Legaux posted a career-high 65 assists.

Waldron smashed her previous career-high of 21 kills that she had reached twice, with her most recent being last Halloween against Seattle at Reed Gym. The senior hit an incredible .500 attack percentage with 25 kills from 48 attempts and just one error for the match. Waldron's double-double is her second consecutive.

"Clearly Emily (Waldron) had a fabulous night as she had 25 kills, from 48 attempts and just one error," said head coach Chad Teichert. "Just a remarkable night attack-wise, she was really in the groove and Karissa did a nice job of getting the ball to people."

Sophomore Jaclyn Hone also recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 14 digs. Outside hitter Haylee Thompson posted 15 kills. Redshirt senior Paige Palmer led the Bengals with 17 digs to improve to a ten-match double-figure dig streak.

Montana State dropped its Big Sky Conference losing streak to 40 after losing its second straight five set match as the Bobcats fell to Weber State the previous night. The Bengals improve to 3-2 in the Big Sky and 7-7 for the season while Montana State falls to 0-5 in the conference and 2-12 for the season.

"It was a good deal," said Teichert of the five set victory. "The girls kept their composure and stayed intense throughout the five games."

In the first set Idaho State hit a .310 percentage with senior Waldron leading ISU with six kills. ISU ran away with the set holding Montana State to a .125 attack percentage.

The Bobcats fought back in the second set holding the lead throughout. Montana State's four team blocks kept the Bengals at bay as well as pushing them to improve their attacks for more errors. ISU fell to a .250 attack percentage dropping from four errors in the first set to seven in the second. Montana State capitalized on the momentum improving a .333 attack percentage.

After the break the Bengals came back with a new fire as they took the lead until Montana State tied it up at 19-all. Idaho State called a timeout at 21-all, then went on to take the next four points for the set. The Bengals hit a .455 attack percentage with 17 kills from 33 attempts and only two errors.

In the fourth set Idaho State held a lead until the Bobcats took a brief lead at 21-19 lead. The Bengals jumped out to an early lead in the fifth set and never let go as ISU refused to roll over. The Bengals hit a .331 attack percentage for the match and posted three team blocks, ISU's set-high for the match. Montana State out-blocked the Bengals 11-to-6 for the match.

"The main improvement in the fifth game was blocking, we significantly improved as we recorded three in the fifth and that was crucial," stated Teichert.
