Pocatello, ID--Junior Haylee Thompson's career-high 17 kills led the Bengals in Idaho State's straight set victory, 25-12, 26-24, 25-21, over Weber State at Reed Gym Saturday night. The Bengals (12-14, BSC 6-8) dominated the first set and though the Wildcats (7-10, BSC 5-10) fought back ISU maintained its solid play to take the match. Every win is a must for Idaho State with only one tournament spot left for the taking.

The Bengals need to win their last two contests and Montana needs to fall in its last two contests for Idaho State to attend the Big Sky tournament. Idaho State will host Montana State the same night Weber State hosts Montana on Friday, November 20 at 7 p.m. Idaho State and Montana will face off on Saturday, November 21 at 7 p.m. Portland State, Northern Colorado and Eastern Washington have all clinched its tournament spots.

Junior Thompson's career-high 17 kills was also the match high. She posted only three errors from 26 attempts for a .538 attack percentage. Thompson was one of three Bengals players to hit above a .500 hitting percentage.

"I told Haylee if she could do this all the time it would be a good deal. She had a real good night tonight," said Head Coach Chad Teichert.

Junior middle blocker Sarah Carson also hit a .538 attack percentage when she posted seven kills with zero errors from 13 attempts. Freshman Breanne Van Every recorded three kills with zero errors from her six attempts for a .500 percentage. As a team the Bengals hit a .327 attack percentage while holding Weber State to .214 for the contest.

With tournament hopes on the line Idaho State showed the Wildcats it meant business as the Bengals jumped out to an 11-5 start before Weber State's head coach Al Givens called a timeout. The Bengals couldn't be stopped as they went on a 14-7 run to close out the set. Waldron posted five kill in the first set from eight attack with zero errors for a .625 percentage.

"I don't know why we came out so well, but we did and played real well and sometimes the momentum is going for you and the other team can't get it going and you look fabulous, and we were fabulous in game one so it was fun," said Head Coach Teichert. "My main concern was so often there is a let up, but the girls kept play and you know Weber State wouldn't give a game one performance all night, they are just too good of athletes to do that."

Idaho State jumped out to a 10-5 start in the second set, but Weber State would claw its way back to post set point at 24-22. Idaho State's Carson would slam a kill after a long rally to save the set point and swing the momentum back in ISU's favor. Weber State would falter from there handing ISU a 26-24 second set.

After the break it would be Weber State who would jump out to a quick start with a 10-4 lead, but the Bengals would take it back on a 13-6 run including two kills by Thompson and two by Carson. Thompson would go on to put away match point for Idaho State assisted by Karissa Legaux.

"We didn't get off to such a good start. Some of our ball control wasn't so good and had a few service errors. I liked the fact that they fought their way back a point at a time," said Teichert.

ISU's setter Legaux posted a match-high 39 assists. Palmer recorded 11 digs in the contest and continues to impress as she improved her double-figure dig streak to 21 consecutive matches, the longest streak in conference play this season.

Idaho State had two matches remaining in its final week of the regular season. The Bengals next match is against Montana State on Friday, November 20 at Reed Gym at 7 p.m.
