Pocatello, ID-- Idaho State improved to a four-game winning streak, the longest this season, with its straight set victory (25-10, 25-20, 25-16) over Montana State to complete the sweep at Reed Gym Friday night. Senior Emily Waldron posted a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs in front of her family on Parent's Night. Unfortunately, the evening ended on a sad note due to Montana's four set victory over Weber State that clinched a Griz Big Sky Tournament appearance to knock the Bengals out of the running.

"We wish Weber State would have gotten them that's for sure so that we could have had a chance to go to the [Big Sky] Tournament," said Head Coach Teichert of the Wildcat's loss to Montana. ISU needed Montana to lose at Weber State so that the Griz and Bengals could face off for the chance to make the tournament. "But they didn't so that's that and we have to move past it and be ready to play tomorrow night."

With the victory over the Bobcats Idaho State improved to 13-14 for the season and a 7-8 Big Sky record while Montana State fell to 3-22 overall and 1-14 in the conference.

Waldron's 12 kills were a match-high as she recorded 27 attacks and four errors for a .296 attack percentage. Waldron continues to hold the second most attacks in a career at Idaho State with 3,741 attempts.

"She has quite a career with the numbers she has going so it is nice to add to them," said Teichert. "She had a stretch in game two where she was hitting really well and her performance made a difference."

Junior Haylee Thompson also posted double-figures in kills with 10 as she had 29 attacks and three errors for a .241 percentage. Redshirt senior Paige Palmer improved on the longest Big Sky double-figure streak for her 22nd consecutive match when she posted 15 digs. Karissa Legaux did an outstanding job of setting up the Bengals as she posted 33 assists and helped Idaho State achieve a .250 attack percentage for the match.

The Bengals dominated the first set taking an early 18-6 lead and finishing out the set ahead by 15 points. Idaho State won side out 90 percent of the time. The Bobcats rallied in the second set for the closest game of the match as the team exchanged 11 tied scores and four lead changes.

Montana State posted its best hitting percentage in the second set at .150 with 11 kills and five errors from 40 attempts as well as recording five of the team's eight team blocks for the match. Even with all Montana State had going for it in the second set the Bengal's attack was better as Idaho State hit a .275 percentage with 17 kills from 40 attempts and six errors.

In the third set Montana State took a two-point lead at 8-6, but ISU wouldn't trail from that point on as they took the 25-16 hitting a .222 attack percentage. For the third time this season Idaho State held an opponent to zero double-figure kills and the Bengals held Montana State to a .037 attack percentage, lowest by an opponent this season. Bobcat Taylar Barney would lead Montana State with seven kills and would post five digs and three block assists. Meghan Albiston posted a match-high 16 digs for Montana State.

The Bengals will host Montana on Saturday, November 21 at Reed Gym in ISU's final game of the season on senior night. Idaho State has three seniors who will be playing their final games of their careers; Kolay Mickelsen-Sutton, Palmer and Waldron. ISU will be playing for some bragging rights as a victory over Montana would give the Bengals a sweep over a team that clinched a spot in the Big Sky Tournament.

Notes: Britta Bartschi-Rhodehouse recorded both of Idaho State's service aces, both occurring in the first set during three services ... Three Bengals recorded five digs each Jaclyn Hone, Jenna Proost, and Legaux ... ISU's victory at home completes the sweep over Montana State for the season and improves ISU's home reocrd to 5-5 for the season.
