D.J. Clark Signed to Green Bay Packers Practice Squad

Dec. 17, 2009

Green Bay, WI --- Former Idaho State cornerback D.J. Clark, who led the Bengals in interceptions for four consecutive seasons, has signed a free agent contract with the Green Bay Packers, joining former teammate Evan Dietrich-Smith with Green Bay, and becoming the sixth former Bengal to currently be on an NFL roster.

Clark, who set a school record with 45 consecutive starts, was placed on the practice squad for the Packers, and he will wear number 43. He joins Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings, Jeff Charleston of the New Orleans Saints, Matt Gutierrez of the New England Patriots, Dietrich-Smith, and Pago Togafau of the Arizona Cardinals as current Bengals in the NFL. Idaho State had never had more than four in the NFL at any one time until this year. Clark had recently done a workout with Green Bay and also with Cincinnati.

Togafau was resigned to the Cardinals and placed on their practice squad after breaking a bone in his foot during the preseason. Last year he became the first Bengal to play in the Super Bowl a year after Gutierrez became the first Bengal to have his team make the Super Bowl, as he was with New England.

Of the six players in the NFL, all should make the playoffs except for Gutierrez's Chiefs.
