Pocatello, ID-The Idaho State men's tennis team fell 4-0 to Air Force Saturday evening in Colorado Springs. The Bengals played championship style with the first team to earn four points gaining the victory. The victory was the first for Air Force this season as they improved to 1-0. ISU falls to 0-5 for the season. Senior Javier Royo led the Bengals at the number one position.
Idaho State lost the doubles point as sophomores Danel Barrenechea and Alex Buceta were defeated by Brett Rodgers and Taylor Soster 8-3 at the number two position followed by Royo and Ross DeChant falling 8-3 to Austin Francis and Cody Hall at the number one spot. Dan Buckingham and David Kutchins were down 5-4 before they were stopped.
Royo led the Bengals at the number one position falling 6-3, 6-3 to Austin Francis. Barrenechea fell 6-2, 6-3 at the number two spot to Cody Hall. Alex Bucta was making a comeback in the third spot as he fell 7-5 in the first set, but was up four games 4-1 in the second. However Air Force's Soster defeated DeChant 6-3, 6-3 at the number four spot to finish the match.
