Greeley, CO--Idaho State women's tennis was swept 7-0 by Northern Colorado in Greeley on Monday afternoon in the Bengals' first Big Sky Conference match at the Work Out West facility. The Bears garnered their first victory of the season as they improved to 1-3 for the season and 1-0 in Big Sky play while Idaho State falls to 0-5 for the season and 0-1 in Big Sky play.

The Bengals were defeated in both doubles matches to start the match down 0-1. Tabatha Knop and Manuela Santos defeated Sophie Dang and Stephanie Roldan 8-0 at the number one spot. Freshman Risa Fujiwara and junior Lisel Lewis fell 8-4 to Jodi Ciarvella and Jill Kappel at the number two spot.

Identical twins Tabatha and Tiffany Knop led Northern Colorado at the number one and two singles spots respectively. Lewis led the Bengals falling to Tabatha Knop 6-2, 6-2 at the number one spot while Sophie Dang fell 6-2, 6-0 at the number two spot to Tiffany Knop.

Freshman Fujiwara started strong but was overcome 6-3, 6-0 by Ciarvella. Senior Kelli Ogborn fell 6-0, 6-0 at the number five spot to Kappel. Idaho State forfeited the number three doubles and number six singles contests.

The Bengals return to action against Utah State at Logan, UT on Wednesday, March 4 at 1 p.m.
