Provo, UT-Idaho State men's tennis team was swept 7-0 at Brigham Young Wednesday night after a late addition to the schedule. Junior Javier Royo played a tight first set with Cougar's number one Evan Urbina as the Bengal fell 7-4 in the tiebreaker. Royo could not recover falling 6-1 in the second set. Brigham Young improves to 5-2 for the season while the Bengals fall to 0-7.

The Bengals started down 0-1 in the contest after falling in all three doubles matches. Royo and Ross DeChant fell 8-0 to Thomas Shubert and Urbina at the number one spot. Georgy Batrakov and A.J. Young defeated freshman Dan Buckingham and junior David Kutchins at the number three spot 8-1. Sophomore Danel Barrenechea and Alex Buceta were neck-and-neck with Daniel Hwang and Cassidy Mears but fell 8-5 at the number two spot.

Junior Andres Mancero was the first singles match completed as Roman Warias overcame Mancero 6-0, 6-0 at the number three spot, Mancero's highest start on the lineup this season. DeChant followed with a 6-0, 6-2 contest in Batrakov's favor at the number five spot. Sophomore Buceta's match became the deciding factor as the Bengals fell 6-1, 6-1 to Mears at the number four spot.

Barrenechea began a comeback in his second set but was overpowered as Shubert posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory over the Bengal at the number two spot. Royo nearly overcame Urbina in the first set falling 7-6 (7-4), but he Bengal could not recover and fell 6-1 in the second set at the number one spot. The number six singles match played an eight game pro set in conservation of time as freshman Buckingham fell 8-4 to Hwang giving BYU the sweep.

Idaho State returns to the court against Utah State on Thursday, March 5 in Logan, UT at 1 p.m.
