Pocatello, ID-Idaho State women's tennis was swept 7-0 by undefeated conference leader #50 Sacramento State Friday evening. Junior Sophie Dang who was recovering from the flu, became the first Big Sky player to capture a set against Sacramento State's No. 2 Melissa Valenzuela, and posted the third three-set match, third set a super ten-point tiebreaker, of a Big Sky player against any Hornet.

The Bengals opened the dual match down 0-1 after dropping both contests. Senior Stephanie Roldan and junior Lisel Lewis reunited to post an 8-3 loss to Clarisse Baca and Joyce Martinez at the No. 1 doubles spot. Junior Dang and freshman Risa Fujiwara teamed up for the first time this season and fell 8-1 to Maria Meliuk and Aileen Tsan at the No. 2 spot.

Lewis led the Bengals at the No. 1 spot, but was first off the court as she was overcome 6-1, 6-1 by #110 Katrina Zheltova. Roldan followed with a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Tsan at the No. 3 position. Junior Dang played the most exciting match of the day as she began with a 4-0 lead until Valenzula broke Dang's serve to capture two straight before Dang would hold service to take a 5-2 lead.

However, Valenzula would not be silenced rearing back to take send the set into a tiebreaker. Dang dug deep and prevailed in the tiebreaker 7-3. Valenzula would take the second set 6-1 to send the match into a super ten-point tiebreaker where Dang fell 10-5.

Freshman Fujiwara would be the last off the court as she fell 6-1, 6-0 to Baca at the No. 4 position. Sacramento State improves their undefeated conference record to 7-0 and improves to 14-8 for the season. Idaho State fell to 0-5 in conference play and 0-13 for the season.

Due to lack of players Idaho State forfeited the No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and 6 singles positions. Idaho State's next dual match will be its final home contest of the season as the Bengals host Weber State at Reed Gym on Thursday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
