Laramie, WY--Idaho State defeated tournament host Wyoming 3-1 (25-20, 25-22, 18-25, 25-17) to capture the UniWyo Cowgirl Classic Title at the UniWyo Sports Complex Saturday night. Three Bengals were selected to the All-Tournament Team with senior Emily Waldron named as MVP for her first career tournament honors.

Sophomore's Jaclyn Hone and Karissa Legaux were also named to the All-Tournament team. Waldron and Hone each posted a double-double against Wyoming. Waldron recorded her second double-double of the tournament with her 13 kills and 12 digs against the Cowgirls, while Hone led the Bengals Saturday night with 15 kills and 15 digs.

Waldron credits her personal success in the tournament to the team cohesiveness, "Our team gels nicely, it's an intense positive feeling" said Waldron. "Karissa (Legaux) set perfect, really well, and our defense, our middle blockers and right side they set the block nicely and it makes it easier to perform well."

Jaclyn Hone earned her first All-Tournament Honors.

Waldron had double-figures in digs in every match in the tournament. She went on to post 33 kills and 37 digs over three matches. Hone posted 39 kills over the tournament and 26 digs. ISU's setter Legaux posted 43 assists for the Bengals against Wyoming and 126 over the tournament. Her tournament-high was 48 assists against South Dakota State.

Idaho State improves to 3-0 for the season while Wyoming was handed its first loss as they fell to 2-1. The last time the Bengals opened with a 3-0 season was back in 1999.

"It was the best we've played since I've been here," said head coach Chad Teichert of the Bengals' performance against Wyoming. "We had to rise to the occasion and had to show grit and composure. They (the Bengals) were prepared to play and they worked hard."

Idaho State took an early lead in the first set and though the Cowgirls fought back to tie the game at eight, ISU never looked back and sailed to a 25-20 first set. In the second set Wyoming came out strong taking a 16-9 lead for a seven-point difference, but the Bengals never quit and caught up to the Cowgirls at the end of the set and sealed the win 25-22.

Setter Karissa Legaux earned All-Tournament Honors as she posted 126 assists over three matches.

In the third set the Bengals went back and forth during the first 16 points, but Wyoming would gain momentum and full forward from their capturing the third set 25-18. The Bengals returned to the court unfazed dwindling down Wyoming's drive to tie the fourth set at 13-all. Idaho State would sail through the next nine points to lead the Cowgirls 22-13. Idaho State would close out the set 25-17 to give the Bengals their first tournament title since 2005.

Idaho State looks to continue its tournament success as they prepare to travel for the ASU Sheraton Classic in Tempe, Arizona.
