Tempe, AZ--Idaho State (4-2) was swept 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-16) by tournament champion Arizona State (5-1) in the final match of the ASU Sheraton Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Arena to capture third place in the tournament. Junior Haylee Thompson earned her first All-Tournament team honors in the tournament, marking Idaho State's fourth player this season to receive All-Tournament Honors.
Thompson posted seven kills against the Sun Devils as well as two block assists. She averaged 2.55 kills per set, and 0.70 blocks per set in the ASU Sheraton Classic. Senior Emily Waldron led the Bengals against the Sun Devils with 10 kills and was two digs shy of a double-double posting eight. Waldron had a .292 attack percentage.
Redshirt senior Paige Palmer posted ten digs in the libero spot to lead the Bengals. She was one dig shy of mirroring the match-high of 11 digs posted by Arizona State's Sarah Johnson. Junior Britta Bartschi-Rhodehouse and sophomore Jaclyn Hone each posted three block assists. However, Idaho State was out-blocked 10.5-to-5 team blocks.
The Bengals next match will occur on Wednesday, September 9 against Utah State at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah at 7 p.m.
