Pocatello, ID --- Weber State's Damian Lillard hit a short contested runner in the lane with 0.5 seconds left in the third overtime, and ISU couldn't get a short off afterwards as the first place Weber State Wildcats won a classic fitting of the Border War rivalry 95-93 over Idaho State University in the second-longest game in Holt Arena history.

Lillard's shot was the last of his 28 points in a wild contest that lasted nearly three hours in a game where both teams had chances to win it. Weber State had final shots at the end of regulation, and also at the end of the second overtime, but Kyle Bullinger was shot on his 15-foot attempt at the end of regulation, and Damian Lillard missed a pair of threes, including one at the buzzer at the end of the second overtime. Idaho State's best shot came down one at the end of the first overtime, when Broderick Gilchrest got fouled with 0.7 left, and hit the first to tie the game at 74, but he missed the second, sending the game to a second overtime.

The three overtimes saw nine ties, and ISU led only twice in the two overtime, both times by one. The Bengals led for 11 seconds in the second overtime after an Amorrow Morgan free throw with 2:26 to go, and Austin Kilpatrick hit a free throw 25 seconds into the third overtime, and that lead lasted 12 seconds.

The game was only the second triple overtime in school history, and the first since ISU lost to Idaho 92-89 at the Kibbie Dome on February 2, 1994. It was the sixth game in school history to go at least three overtimes, and ISU dropped to 1-5 in those games (0-2 in triple overtime and 1-3 in quadruple overtime). It was the second longest game in Holt Arena history, behind only a four overtime win on February 17, 1979, 78-77 over Montana.

Early on, it didn't look like any overtime would be needed, as Weber State bolted to a 9-0 lead and a 24-11 lead with 5:48 to go in the first half, but from that point on, the Bengals bounced back. They outscored Weber State 11-5 the rest of the way to go down into the break just 29-22.

Whatever ailed ISU in the first half, it was quickly corrected over the final 35 minutes. The Bengals shot just 7-of-22 from the field in the first half, but were 25-of-42 for the rest of the game, including 11-of-15 in the three overtimes. ISU, who turned it over nine times in the opening half, committed just six in the last 35 minutes. The drawback for ISU was uncharacteristically shooting just 19-of-35 from the free throw line, just .543 after entering the game hitting .703 for the season. ISU was just 7-of-16 in the three overtimes.

The Bengals also limited Weber State to just .395 from the field, and just 7-of-35 from the three-point line, although Weber State outrebounded ISU 47-41.

For the Bengals, Amorrow Morgan led the way with 30 points, his third career 30-point night, and Gilchrest had career-highs of 28 points and seven assists. Austin Kilpatrick just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Also, Sherrod Baldwin scored a career-high nine points on 4-of-4 shooting. For Weber State, along with Lillard's 28, Franklin Session scored 22, and Steve Panos added 21. Kyle Bullinger had 13. Pocatello native Nick Hansen hit a three to open his night, but missed his next 10 to spoil his final game back in his hometown.

Idaho State, now sitting at the bottom of the league at 1-5, will play the middle two games of their four-game home stand next week as they host Eastern Washington on Friday and Portland State on Saturday, both of those games at Reed Gym and starting at 7:05 pm.

NOTES: Idaho State dropped to 2-11 in the last three-plus seasons in overtime ... the last time ISU made 10 threes in a game was when they went 10-for-26 in a 70-63 overtime loss to Montana in the Big Sky Conference Tournament quarterfinals on March 3, 2007 ... Austin Kilpatrick, the all-time leading shot blocker among guards in ISU history, had three blocks.
