POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team dropped its final home game of the season to Sacramento State, 45-17 on Saturday afternoon at Holt Arena on Senior Day. The Bengals dropped to 1-9 and 0-7 in Big Sky play while Sacramento State improved to 6-4 and finished Big Sky play with a 5-3 mark.
Idaho State had 243 yards of total to Sacramento State's 451. Russel Hill threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns while Rodrick Rumble caught six passes for 93 yards and Kelvin Krosch caught five passes for 63 yards.
“I thought Kelvin and Rodrick competed and made some plays,” Idaho State coach John Zamberlin said.
A.J. Storms, the nation's leading tackler, had 13 tackles.
Idaho State fell behind early, 21-3 in the first quarter and trailed 28-3 at halftime. Sacramento State then scored 17 third quarter points to lead 45-3 after three quarters.
“In the first half we lost our poise and composure but I thought we got it back in the second half,” Zamberlin said. “We talked about it at halftime and said focus on one play at a time and stay together. They got their composure back and I am proud of that.”
The Bengals scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the first came with 14:13 left in the game when Hill hit tight end Josh Hill for a five-yard pass in the end zone. Then with 5:06 to play, Hill connected with Tavoy Moore on a 39-yard touchdown reception.
The Bengals close out the season next Saturday at Eastern Washington.
