Busma Scores 12, Bengals Fall at South Dakota State

IdahoState returns to the court on Nov. 29 with a contest against Montana Tech on Nov. 29.

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost at South Dakota State 79-47 on Tuesday evening in Brookings, South Dakota. The Bengals are 1-3 while the Jackrabbits improved to 4-0.

Deividas Busma led ISU with 12 points and eight rebounds while Phyllip Taylor had eight points.  As a team the Bengals shot 37 percent from the field while South Dakota State shot 47.5 percent. The Bengals were out rebounded 44-29 and had six assists to 20 turnovers.
 
“Tonight I think everything that could go wrong went wrong,” Idaho State coach Joe O'Brien said. “It was a night of frustration for the kids and us on the sidelines. We weren't good in any area of the game. If we did anything we were average at defending the three.”

Idaho State fell behind 24-3 nine minutes into the game but then held SDSU to 10 points in the final 10 minutes of the period to trail 34-18 at halftime. South Dakota State then started strong in the second half to lead by as many as 34 points late in the second half.

“I hope the kids learn a lot from this so we can mature and grow up from this experience,” O'Brien said.

Idaho State returns to the court on Nov. 29 for a 7 p.m. contest against Montana Tech. The game will be played at Holt Arena.
