Pocatello, ID --- It's been one of those types of seasons. Idaho State rallied from a late 10-point deficit, but Mike Lacey's tying three-point attempt with under 10 seconds left was blocked, and Cal State Bakersfield won only their second road game of the season, taking down Idaho State 82-79 and spoiling senior night for six Bengals.

Idaho State found themselves trailing most of the second half, although an 8-0 run tied the game at 51-51 with 14:51 to go. However, the Roadrunners went on a 6-0 run of their own to recapture the lead, and with 4:52 to go, Donavan Bragg hit a pair of free throws to put CSUB up 72-62, but ISU had a little bit of fight left in them.

ISU quickly cut the lead to four after a three-pointer by Broderick Gilchrest, a basket by Rolando Little, and a free throw by Amorrow Morgan. The teams traded some baskets, and with 1:10 to go, Austin Kilpatrick's third three of the game made it a one-point game at 76-75.

Stephon Carter hit a jumper with 40 secons left to push the lead back to three, and Amorrow Morgan made two free throws with 30.5 left. Bakersfield them broke through ISU's press and got a layup by Santwon Latunda to make it 80-77. ISU then set themselves up for a three to tie, but with Kilpatrick covered and Gilchrest out of the game, Mike Lacey had his three blocked by Carter. Bragg took the ball for a late layup, and then ISU scored with no time left to end the game.

Early on it looked like a rout as after the opening ceremonies honored Amorrow Morgan, Austin Kilpatrick, Demetrius Monroe, Donnie Carson, Chron Tatum, and Rolando Little, the Bengals raced to a quick 9-2 lead, but Bakersfield rebounded and the game stayed close until ISU found themselves up 38-30 with 2:52 to go, but Bakersfield went on a losing 14-2 run over that timeframe to take a 44-40 lead into the locker room.

ISU stayed in the game due to a yeoman's effort by Demetrius Monroe, who scored a career-high 24 points and had 12 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season. However, it wasn't enough as ISU was outrebounded by two and Bakersfield hit 9-of-19 three-pointers for the game.

For the game, Along with Monroe's 24, Gilchrest had 17 and Morgan added 13. For Bakersfield, all five starters were in double-figures, with Trent Blakely leading the way with 20, including five threes. Latunda had 18, Carter had 17, Marcus Hall added 15 and Bragg scored 11. Both Carter and Gilchrest each dished out seven assists.

The Bengals now return to conference play with three road games to end the season, at Weber State this Saturday, and then at Portland State and at Eastern Washington next Friday and Saturday. ISU is fighting with Portland State, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, and Sacramento State for the final two conference tournament berths. ISU is currently one game out of the final spot.

NOTES: Monroe's previous career-high was 19 at Utah ... Kilpatrick's five assists were a career-high ... ISU hit .727 from the line after going just 22-for-40 on Saturday ... ISU ended the season just 6-6 at home.
